Modalgistics awarded Georgia Institute of Technology's Graduate Co-op Employer of the Year

The Division of Professional Practice annually recognizes one employer as the Georgia Tech Graduate Co-op Employer of the Year. The 2009 honor was awarded to Norfolk Southern Modalgistics Supply Chain Solutions.

The Modalgistics division of Norfolk Southern has employed undergraduate co-ops, graduate co-ops, and interns from Georgia Tech for many years. Ms. Demery Hatfield, Manager of Modalgistic's Supply Chain Technology group accepted the award at the Division of Professional Practice Honors Banquet held March 9 at the Georgia Tech Student Center Ballroom. Introducing Ms. Hatfield was the graduate co-op student who nominated Norfolk Southern Modalgistics, Ms. Sowjanya Sreeram.

Ms. Sreeram is in her first graduate co-op assignment with the company working toward her masters in IE. Ms. Sreeram singled out her manager, Ms. Hatfield, as a primary reason she wanted to nominate her employer for the award. She added, "Norfolk Southern Corporation is one of the nation’s premier transportation companies. It encourages all around development of student trainees with a great workplace here in Atlanta. Out of personal experience, I can say that it has been a great employer to work for."
